Course Overview
This course covers the concepts and principles that underlie the transmission of continuous media, such as digital audio and video across, IP internetworks. The emphasis will be on technologies and techniques for satisfying the requirements of applications requiring real-time, low-latency delivery of media. The course will  use and utilize:
  • IRI (Interactive Remote Instruction) laboratory and systems.
  • JMF (Java Media FrameWork).
  • Course Materials
    Since this is a relatively new area with a lot of on-going research, there is no single satisfactory  textbook available. The primary source of reading material for this course will come from papers in the literature,
    on-line texts and notes (e.g.,  Crowcroft, Handley  , Jeffay  & Ammar) and
    on-line documentations and specifications (e.g., JMF API  &   RTP).
