Course Requirements
A student must complete
the course work specified below.
- At least 27 credit hours of Ph.D. course work is required
beyond MS excluding the dissertation work and any prerequisite courses.
At least 9 out of these 27 credit hours should be non-topics courses.
- At least 18 hours must be from 700/800 level courses.
- At least 18 hours must be from Computer Science courses.
- 500 level courses and independent study courses
of less than 700 level will not be
counted toward Ph.D. course credit. In exceptional cases
and with special prior approval of the graduate studies
committee 700 level independent study courses may be counted toward
the 27 required credit hours.
- A student who receives two C's or
whose quality point average falls bellow 3.3 following nine or more
credit hours attempted shall be placed on probation or suspended
in accordance with the continuance regulations for graduate students.
- Course work beyond MS level taken elsewhere will rarely
be accepted as a part of the 27 credit hour requirement and at most
six credit hours will be accepted. The acceptance can be given only
by the research guidance committee.
