Outcome
Outcome of candidacy examination
-
All members of the research guidance committee
should be present at the oral part of
the candidacy exam and must render a judgment
on the student's candidacy exam.
-
The examination may not be passed if there is
more than one dissenting vote.
-
Candidacy exams cannot be passed conditionally.
A pass on the exam cannot be made contingent upon other factors
such as the completion of additional course work, the preparation
of extra projects, etc.
-
If a candidacy exam is failed, the guidance
committee may permit the student to take it once more at a time
mutually satisfactory and within a period of not less than three
months nor more than one year from the date of the first exam.
-
The chairperson of the student's guidance
committee will report, in writing, to the graduate program
director and school dean the results of the examination. In
the report the guidance committee, through the chairperson,
must also make recommendations regarding admission to candidacy.
A copy of the report should be given to each member of the guidance
committee and to the student.
University Form 10 will also be filled.
