Justin F. Brunelle received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from ODU in 2008. He continued his education at Old Dominion by entering graduate school, where he is completing a Masters in Computer Science. Justin has worked under Dr. Irwin Levinstein on the iSTART Project since the summer of 2003. His work currently includes designing, developing, and testing serious game applications. He is also gaining experience in evaluating the use of computer games as learning tools. His work has allowed him to present several papers, one of which (MiBoard: Metacognitive Training through Gaming in iSTART) won best paper in its track at the VMASC Capstone Conference in May, 2008.
Justin has also worked as an adjunct instructor at Tidewater Community college during the summer semesters of 2008 and 2009. He taught week-long courses for high school students in Introduction to Modeling and Simulation for Game Programmers, Advanced Modeling and Simulation for Game Programmers, Web Development, and Physics for Games.
Justin is continuing to author research papers on his work. He is also writing a chapter for a book edited by Dr. Chutima Boonthum and Dr. Philip McCarthy on Applied Natural Language Processing. Justin plans to graduate in May, 2010.
