Mostafa Uddin completed his BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. After graduation, he worked as a Software Engineer at KAZ Software and SDSL.
In 2011 fall, Mostafa started doing PhD in Computer Science at Old Dominion University. He has been working with Dr. Tamer Nadeem as a Research Assistant. His Research interest spans in various areas of Mobile Computing and Wireless Network. Currently, he is focused on developing smart wireless communication for the smart phones. He is exploiting multiple wireless interface like WiFi, Bluetooth, Acoustic (mic/speaker), etc of the Smart Phone to improve the overall throughput, fairness and energy efficiency of the wireless communication. Moreover, mostafa is interested in studying impact of social interaction and activity over the wireless communication. Besides he is also interested in developing high accuracy indoor localization system utilizing different modalities of the user's Smart Phone. Utilize the sensing capabilities of the smart devices to develop smart home and smart health applications is his another area of interest. Recently he got involved with analyzing and visualizing large scale mobile sensing or cellular network data (e.g Nokia Mobile Data Challenge 2012, D4D challenge).
Mostafa has already published his work in several well known international conferences and workshops, such as in PerCom 2013, HotMobile 2013, HomeSys 2012, IWCMC 2012. Besides, he has presented his work in the demo/poster session of several conferences like INFOCOM 2012, HotMobile 2012. In HotMobile '12, he presented his work in Doctoral Consortium. In addition, in year 2012, his article on "HotMobile 2012" has been published in the IEEE pervasive computing magazine. This year, mostafa is going to present his paper "A2PSM: Audio Assisted Wi-Fi Power Saving Mechanism for Smart Devices" at HotMobile'13. Recently, his work in HotMobile'13 has received media attention from an UK based computer topic magazine.
In his graduate studies, he has been offered "Dominion Graduate Scholar" from the College of Science, Old Dominion University. Mostafa has received NSF student travel grant award to present his paper at PerCom 2013 conference. In addition, he is also a recipient of ACM SIGMOBILE travel grant award.
