Zhaofang Wen received his Ph.D. in CS from Old Dominion University in 1991. At ODU, his research was in the areas of Software Engineering and Parallel Processing, under the guidance of Dr. Overstreet and Dr. Olariu. He received his MS and BS in CS from Zhongshan University, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively.
Zhaofang Wen professional interests include software engineering, parallel compiler optimization, parallel processing, and parallel programming environments. He has published many research papers and co-authored a book (research monograph) entitled "Automatic Algorithm Recognition and Replacement: A New Approach to Program Optimization". He has been responsible for architecting several parallel compiler projects in the industry.
After graduation from ODU, he has worked many different types of jobs in the academia, industry, and research labs. From 1991 to 1994, Zhaofang Wen was an Assistant Professor in the CS Department, University of Minnesota, Duluth. From 1994 to 1999, he was a senior software engineer at Hewlett-Packard. From 1999 to 2002, he worked as a principle software engineer responsible for parallel compiler projects at two separate fabless semiconductor startups in the Silicon Valley. Since 2002, he has been a researcher working on high-performance computing projects at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
