Duc Nguyen, a Junior in the Computer Science Department, will be performing research at Argonne National Lab, Illinois, this summer as part of their Student Research Participation Program in the Mathematics and Computer Science Division.
Duc's focus at Argonne will be in the area of combinational scientific computing. He will work twoards developing a new version of SparsLinC, a library for computing linear combinations of sparse vectors. The new version will be integrated with automatic differentiation tools from the OpenAD project, ADIC 2.0 and Open AD/F.
Duc will be working on the CSCAPES project with Dr. Paul Hovland at Argonne National Lab and Prof. Alex Pothen at Old Dominion University.
Also recently Duc Nguyen has been selected as Old Dominion University's outstanding Junior by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. An award will be presented at the Initiation Ceremony, April 25th 2007 in Webb Center.
