Jessica Crouch's current research interests include physically based modeling, visualization, medical simulation, and image analysis algorithms. Dr. Crouch's current research projects include: development of 3D virtual eye models for surgery simulation, investigation of efficient solution methods to support interactive deformation of finite element models, and a collaborative effort with oceanographers to produce real-time simulations of the circulation of the Chesapeake Bay and other bodies of water.
Prior to joining the ODU computer science department, Dr. Crouch worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Virginia Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation Center at Old Dominion University. Dr. Crouch completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Computer Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology Engineering Research Center at Johns Hopkins University. She received a Ph.D. in computer science in 2003 and a master's degree in computer science in 1999, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her bachelor's degree, also in computer science, is from the University of Richmond.
