Project History

The iRespond system was originally conceived in the spring of 2005. Since then, the project has undergone several changes on the surface, but remains the same at its core. Originally, Team Platinum had noted that communicating the need for emergency assistance from any place at any time was not always possible. That problem statement has been clarified since then:

Current communication methods do not always provide the appropriate means for requesting emergency assistance.

The original goal was to provide a simple yet reliable method to request assistance from emergency response teams regardless of the user's location. Team Platinum still considers this to be its primary goal and is just as committed to making it a reality as it ever was.

In addition to the refinements in the iRespond project, the face of Team Platinum has changed as well. Two original members left the project after the first SBIR proposal was completed. However, Team Platinum gained a new member, John Gedville, to replace both of the former members.

The development of the prototype during the autumn of 2005 has progressed very smoothly. The feasibility proof-of-concept prototype has been created and was demonstrated on December 14, 2005.
