The Problem
There is a need to automate the processing of scientific experiment observations, and to facilitate efficient analysis of raw data by students and faculty.
Our Solution
iTracker will allow ODU's Biology department to gather, organize and visualize raw data in an intuitive manner, allowing for better appreciation of scientific research starting at the undergraduate level.
I’m an associate professor in Biological Sciences, and currently Undergraduate Research Director for the University. My primary research area is in aquatic animal diseases, but I got my start as an undergraduate working on ticks and tick-borne diseases, and I’ve come back to that field as part of a major NIH-funded project with Drs. Holly Gaff and Wayne Hynes. In my very limited spare time, I am a woodworker and an avid bicyclist.
Aran was born in Sulaymaniyah, located in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq. He has lived in the United States since around the age of 7, and now lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He holds a B.S. degree in Neuroscience from The College of William & Mary, and will receive his second B.S. degree as a Computer Science major at Old Dominion University in May 2019. In the Computer Science field, Aran most enjoys web development.
Outside of school, Aran enjoys practicing and competing in Brazilian jiu-jitsu martial arts, weight lifting, and the occasional video game.
John Edgar was born in Yokosuka, Japan, and spent the first fifteen years of his life moving back and forth before relocating permanently to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is a Senior at ODU pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and minoring in Mathematics. His expected graduation date is May of 2019. His hobbies consists of making videos to relay joy of others, bowling, table tennis, and all kinds of games from video to card games (with Mahjong on the side).
John Edgar was originally a working major under Engineering, but after taking, as well as enjoying, another class dabbling in Computer Science, he decided to change majors to pursue a major he had more passion for. After earning his Associates Degree in Tidewater Community College, he opted to transfer into Old Dominion University to further his studies into Computer Science.
Joshua was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and spent the first five years of his life in Alabama, before relocating back to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He is a Senior at ODU pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and minoring in Cyber Security. His expected graduation date is May of 2019. He is married to a fellow ODU alumni, they share a fifteen week old daughter and a four year old dog named Bear. Joshua’s hobbies include - programming, listening to music, playing poker, raising his daughter and working.
Joshua is currently working as an IT-COOP / Web Apps Developer at Newport News Shipbuilding. Where he hopes, upon graduation to continue his career with the company.
Justin is a senior from Virginia Beach, Virginia majoring in Computer Science. His hobbies include weight lifting and gaming. When he graduates, he plans on pursuing a career in data science.
Cody, while born in Florida and having lived in a small handful of locations, has spent most of his life living in Virginia Beach. He is in his Senior year working toward a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, expecting to graduate in 2019. Over the years he's gained experience in software testing, proofreading, and electronics-based retail work. In his spare time he enjoys a wide range of games (such as video games, billiards, and bowling), various recreational activities (especially with friends), or even just relaxing and browsing the web.
Zack is from and currently lives in Virginia Beach, VA. He is a senior in the Computer Science program at Old Dominion University. He is also working on getting his minor in Cyber security. Zack has had an internship with Gannett working in Release Management and is currently working at Sentara Healthcare in their Information Security Office. When he is not at work or school, he enjoys catching up on shows, playing videos games, and playing with his six year old basset/beagle hound.
Chuck Fischer was a Surface Warfare Officer in the Navy for five years until last year. He is originally from and now lives in San Diego, California. He earned a B.S in Business from the University of Southern California in 2011 and will finish his B.S in Computer Science next May. Styling himself as a world traveler he’s traveled to over 30 countries and plans on a lot more. His hobbies include surfing, weight lifting, photography, snowboarding, and getting injured while snowboarding. Professionally he intends to pursue a masters in data science or engineering management upon his graduation from ODU.
