A Garden Club For Everyone

Problem Statement

People lack a comprehensive region-based tool to better understand the challenges of planting, maintaining, and sustaining their successful gardens

Problem Characteristics

There are a plethora of different diseases that your garden plants can acquire

-On average, gardeners failed to keep 35% of their plants alive. For beginners, the death rate was twice as high. [1]

There are 26 different hardiness zones in the US that all have different needs in order for plants to succeed within them [2]

-This knowledge can make or break a new gardener's overall success. 24% of new gardeners found that the hobby was more difficult than expected [1]

Gardeners are often forgetful or inaccurate when it comes to daily care for plants in their gardens

-Gardening is a complex hobby, where small, innocent mistakes can result in huge problems later on.

Many gardeners will produce more of a single crop than they can use. This results in waste and lost potential value of their garden.

-A survey of 1900 gardeners, reported an average of 273 lbs of unused produce per household per year. [3]

Gardening clubs are mostly unknown among younger demographics. The average age of a gardening club member is 75 in the US. [4]

-This represents a wealth of knowledge and mutual aid in communities, that is going unused.
