Lalita Sharkey

Project Manager
Lalita Sharkey is enrolled in a BS/MS linked program in Computer Science at Old Dominion University. She graduated from Thailand with a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management and worked for airlines for quite some time. She currently works as an undergraduate research assistant with the department of Computer Science at ODU. As a research assistant, she has gained experience in GPU programing. She is also interested in data analysis and machine learning.

Thy Barsell

Lead Web Developer
Thy Barsell is a senior at Old Dominion University majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Women's Studies. Currently, they are an intern with NAVSEA at the Dam Neck naval base, where they have worked with testing training systems and developing training library tools. As a transgender person, Thy has a passion for social activism and is vocal about uplifting the LGBTQ community, and in their spare time, volunteers with LGBTQ groups in the Hampton Roads area. Thy plans to graduate in May of 2019, and hopes to pursue a career in web development in conjunction with their activism.

John Crotzer

Lead Software Developer
John Crotzer is an ODU Computer Science major. He was raised in Virginia Beach. He is currently interning at Liebherr Mining as a software Engineer, where he gained experience in PLC programming. He starts his next internship at Swisslog this month. Where he will be learning Java Enterprise Application development.

Jamal Williams

Mobile & Software Developer
Jamal Williams is an engaged dynamic computer science student at the Old Dominion University. Born and raised in Alexandria, Va, he chose to minor in geology due to his love of exploring the outdoors and hiking. His hobbies include, but are not limited to; sports, working out, biking, app development, gaming, music, and volunteering. His ultimate goal is to develop software that will help improve environmental conservation and elevate the recycling industry.

Mark Myers

Software & Web Developer
Mark Myers is a senior working on his second bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at Old Dominion University. He graduated in 2016 from Old Dominion University with a bachelor’s in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology. He is still figuring out the career field he hopes to pursue but wants to work in healthcare (data collection and analysis) or assistive/adaptive technologies.

Joi Best

Software Developer
Joi Best, a senior at Old Dominion University, is currently enrolled in the 5-year linked BS to MS Computer Science program. In Spring 2018, she interned at NASA Langley where she worked on projects and attended lectures to gain a hands-on experience in Computer Science and Aerodynamics. She currently works as an undergraduate research assistant in the Center for Real-Time Computing Lab at ODU. In her spare time, she enjoys watching YouTube videos about software and technology. Joi Best hopes to one day open her own software development company.

John Carlson

Software Developer
John Carlson is a senior studying Computer Science at Old Dominion University. Born in Virginia Beach and raised in Chesapeake, John has always had a passion playing sports, hanging with family,friends and learning how computers work since he was 7. John plans to graduate from ODU this upcoming spring 2019 and purse a job in either software development or web systems security.

Kayla Fields

Software Developer
Kayla Fields is a Computer Science major at Old Dominion University. Originally from eastern Kentucky, she currently lives in Zushi, Japan with her husband, QMC Phillip Fields (US Navy), of 10 years, and their 2 daughters; Gracie (4) and Delilah (1). Kayla plans to complete her degree in Summer of 2019 and hopes to pursue a career in programming once her husband retires in 2020.

Jacob Hylton

Software Developer
Jacob Hylton is a senior currently working on his first bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Old Dominion University. He lives in a small town called Buchanan, Virginia, which is located in Southwest Virginia. He plans to graduate in Spring of 2019 and hopes to be able to pursue a career in Software Engineering after he exits Old Dominion University.
