Hospitals have the need to reduce costs to increase profitability. From 1997 to 2001, spending on hospital health care increased by $83.6 billion. Additionally, hospital gross margins have declined annually every year since 1997.

The STATag© helps the medical industry by reducing costs associated with time wasted searching for equipment.

The STATag© and Digital Inventory Systems are being developed under the Computer Productivity Initiative at Old Dominion University.
