The
fresh water supply in our country is a severe problem. Most
of the population wastes too much water. Except for air we breathe,
water is the single most important element in our lives. It's
too precious to waste. Nearly 97% of the world’s water is salty
or otherwise undrinkable. Another 2% is locked in ice caps and glaciers.
That leaves just 1% for all of humanity’s needs all its agricultural,
manufacturing, community, and personal household needs. We drink
very little of our drinking water. Less than 1% of the treated water
produced by water utilities is actually consumed. The rest goes on
lawns, in washing machines, and down toilets and drains. Typically,
at least 50% of water consumed by households is used outdoors. Depending
on type of soil, most vegetable gardens and flower gardens need 1-2
inches of water/week. For sandy and clay soils, watering should occur
every 2-3 days for 5 min. For organic sandy loam (40% organic, 40%
garden sand, 20% loam) watering should occur 1-2 times a week. Too
much water causes root rot and other plant diseases. Applying proper
fertilizer to the lawn at the proper time and in the proper amount
can save time, money, and work through reduced moving and watering.
Fertilizers also can be a major source of pollution of streams and
ground water if excessive amounts are applied. Different grasses need
different amounts of water. Therefore the important characteristics
that are concentrated on here are rain, soil moisture or ground water
levels, fertilizing, and over and under watering of grass/plants.
Businesses shouldn't have to worry about the correct
amount of water or fertilizer they need to keep their curb appeal
or to keep their golf courses looking great. We feel that the
sprinkler system should be concerned about all aspects of your lawn
needs. This is where the intelligent sprinkler comes in.
We want to take your business, golf course, or anywhere where there
is a need, to the next level of lawn care. The intelligent sprinkler
will calculate the amount of water and fertilizer to be distributed.
It will break your areas into zones that are programmed with a description
of your soil type, plant and or grass types. Samples are taken
at each zone prior to watering to determine the amount of fertilizer
and water needed. This is all automatic. The consumer
will start noticing a beautiful lawn with an added benefit of potential
monetary savings. |
