A group of students at Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia are attempting to develop a device that will help assist those in need of staying awake.

Research of The National Commission on Sleep Disorders Research, the National Sleep Foundation, and the U.S. Department of transportation, indicates that the average person is sleep-deprived, a condition which has potentially dangerous consequences.

The planned remedy will be a watch that doubles as a heart monitor, which in turn senses if you are about to doze off. You would wear it as you would a watch, and will have full control over how it gains your attention; which can either be an audible tone, vibration, or friendly jolt.
