The network is made up of Piconets, which operate on their own frequency. In the United States, they have a 1 in 79 chance of choosing a frequency that is currently being used. Any of the devices has the opportunity to be a master slave. The master is selected based on who sends a request to set up a network first. As seen in the figure a master may be a slave to another master node and a slave of one node can relay information given to it to another slave if needed.
