The MatchMaker Project The MatchMaker Project

The MatchMaker's Plan List

Old Dominion University

ODU's Computer Productivity Initiative

Management Plan

The goal of the Project Management Plan is:

  1. to gain SBIR funding approval at all levels
  2. to reach Final Development phase in as little cost (manpower, funding, and time) as possible
  3. develop an organization which can remain a strong competitor on the market as well as a place employees can feel proud to work for.

Evaluation Plan

Our evaluation plan will assess the project based on success/failure and timeliness

List of major milestones to be evaluated
  • Compatibility Software
  • Prototype Design
    • Hardware Testing
    • Shock Testing
    • Range of Bluetooth
  • Contractual Aspects
    • Cruise Line
    • Outsourcing

Technical Plan

The MatchMaker plans to create a device that will resemble a cell phone in shape, feel and functionality. This device will utilize Bluetooth technology to broadcast a users profile to other neighboring MatchMaker devices.

The profile will be able to be updated on the device through the numeric keypad or on a computer, via USB connection.

Marketing Plan

The device will be initially marketed to cruise line companies, specifically to Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Cruise ships have little or no compatibility matching methods (limited to meet and greet social gatherings or cocktail hour)

The average cost of a cruise ship excursion is a little over $1,000. Therefore, the cruise ship patrons will be able to afford our device (should they purchase afterwards).

Budget Plan

The project plans to be budgeted by SBIR through the NSF. For Phase I and Phase II, the MatchMaker team will be applying and reapplying for SBIR funding. From Phase III on, the project will seek funding through cruise line corporations, specifically Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
