Progress Report #3
There were two large things that we did this week:
Met with OCCS
As a result of our meeting with Roland Harris, we have
become very unsure as to where we are going to take the project.
By the end of this semester, we want to have a "usable" project that we can
give to the University. In working on the scheduler, we are afriad that the
reaction we will get is "That's nice guys, we'll remember that when we decide
to do this." And that's not what we want...
Met with the CS300 Students
Yesterday, in our meeting with Dr. Wild, we were join by one of the
members of the cs300 class. Discussions revolved around what type of
social implications could be examined by the cs300 students. Suggested
topics were:
- If an error occurs in monetary transactions, who should pay?
- What is meant by sensitive information?
- Where does free speech end and liability begin?
- For example, with teacher evaluations.
- Should teachers be allowed to append/rebut their evals?
- What are the implications of instantaneous communication?
- What safegaurds should be put into place?
- Is automation bad? Can we stand to loose the human interaction?
