Status IntroThis page contains general information about the overall status of the GAS project.  For information about the project schedule and milestones, see our Schedule page.

Phase IThe development of the Gridlock Analysis System (GAS) project is separated into 3 distinct phases.  We are currently in Phase II, which includes all the work done in the CS 411 CPI course.  Phase I started in the Fall 98 semester (CS 410) and was completed in December 98.  During Phase I, the Project Concept was presented and the GAS project team was formed.  This was followed by the development of a GAS Feasibility Analysis and Milestone chart.  Functional Specifications were created and delivered to the grant proposal Principal Investigator (PI).

Phase II started in the Spring 99 semester.   The GAS team worked on the following milestones and deliverables.  For information about these deliverables, see our Project Info page.

Phase II will conclude in May 99 when the grant proposal is submitted for approval to the National Science Foundation (NSF).  A second grant proposal will be submitted to the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

Phase IIIPhase III will start when the NSF funds the GAS project.  Phase III will complete the research necessary to develop the GAS simulation program.  The PI will select a team and research will be conducted in accordance with the NSF Grant Proposal Schedule and Milestones.   After the GAS research has been completed, DOT grant funding will be used to develop the actual GAS simulation software.  This software will be developed in accordance with the DOT Grant Proposal Schedule and Milestones.   Phase III will conclude with the production of the GAS product.  The project team will then market the GAS software to local, state and federal transportation officials.
