Tour of the CS250 Site
As you will discover, the web version of CS250 closely
follows the lecture version for the Fall 1998 semester.
Therefore you will be frequently using that site for lecture notes.
This contains prerequisite material covered in CS150, with automatically graded
exercises which include anwers and explanations.
Testing material for the cs250 material will be added as the semester goes along.
Getting Around on the WebSite: almost every page on
this website (and the lecture version) contains a header (which you can see above).
- Home: will take you to the home page for the site
- Syllabus: will take you to the syllabus which is a map to the topics that
you need to cover and corresponding pages in the textbook
- Progress Map: should be used to trakc your individual progress. It includes
- an assessment test which you should take when you first register on teh
site (what you still haven't taken it). The purpose of the assessment test is to recommend
additional material to study that was presented in CS150. You should make up these
weakness early in the semester.
- A topic index: which shows you which topics you can covered already (green
for been there - done that, gray for not)
- Change Preferences/Profile (not yet implemented)
- Show progress by Curriculum Map - shows how well you are studying the
material in the syllabus
- Suggest something to do next: since your progress is recorded, a list of
topics to cover, areas of weakness are noted so you can decide where to go next (still
working on this feature)
- Search: is coming
- Help: includes FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions: I will put your favorite
e-amil questions here if they are of general interest).
Since some of this site is experimental, we appreciate your comments on
things which you like and those you don't as well as suggestions for improvements.
Also we ask your patience with any bugs in this site. Even instructors and
graduate students sometimes maek mistakes!
