Presentation I Requirements
Select a problem area that you feel will lead your group to the discovery of a
topic that will produce feasible solution this
semester. You should suggest at least one solution to the problem area that you present
There are several potential criteria to be used in making your
selection.
- What is the societal problem?
- Why is this a problem? (state its characteristics)
- What facts do you have to support these stated characteristics?
- Who would be the customer of a feasible solution to this problem?
- How large is this potential market area?
- What do you know about this customer? (why do they care?)
- Who is the competition? Who is currently solving the problem and with what computer technology?
- What solution is needed?
- What computer technologies(y) can be used? What software would be required?
- Can the proposed topic be accomplished with current technology?
- Are the expected resources reasonably available to be successful?
- Is the topic small enough to allow completion within the timeframe
- Is the end result expected to have a positive societal impact?
- Can the negative impacts be minimized or mitigated?
Your
presentation represents your strong support for the proposed topic and is an
effort to convince the class that they should join you as a group member
prosecuting the topic.
Your presentation will be a graded event that has
four major grading factors:
- Presentation Content - Societal problem analysis & solution evaluation
- Presentation Format - presentation organization & time management
- Presentation Quality - platform presence & handling of questions
Each student must make an individual presentation that
emphasizes the the factors that convince the class a societal problem exists and can be solved
with the use of computer technology. Your presentation should maximize the
use of aids as necessary to support your recommendations. Your presentation
should not exceed 6 minutes. At 6 minutes and thirty seconds, you will be asked
to sit down with an uncompleted presentation. Your grade for the presentation
will be reduced as a result.
