Project History

The concept of this Computer Productivity Initiative project originated from the Phase III Communicator project from the CS410 class during the Fall 2003 semester.

This project was initially designed to be implemented as an interactive website to provide a means of fostering communication between various CVD patients. It also motivated the patients in their Phase III of rehabilitation by providing appropriate feedback on the user's received readings. For further information on this  project, visit the cs410 Phase III Communicator website.

During the Spring 2004 semester,  P3C decided to incorporate a hardware solution. This consists of a heart rate and blood pressure monitor that constantly captures readings, which are transferred and evaluated by the P3C Database system. This has proved to be more effective in solving the problem.

However, the addressed problem remains the same:

  • Capture user heart rate and blood pressure
  • Transmit it
  • Return motivational feedback to the user to assist them in approaching and maintaining a healthier lifestyle
