Time and place: CAVE ECS 1202, April 21, Thursday, 12:30-1:30. Title: Grid Convergence Studies: Expect Unexpected Abstract: Grid convergence studies for unstructured finite-volume discretizations are discussed. The effects of grid regularity on truncation and discretization errors, gradient errors, and iterative convergence are shown for model problems ranging from simple one-dimensional scalar equations to three-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes equations. Several counterintuitive results illustrate the complexity of the relations between grids and numerical errors.
