GENERAL WRITTEN COMMENTS:

WHAT FACTORS ABOUT THIS CLASS CONTRIBUTED THE MOST TO YOUR LEARNING? WHAT ASPECTS OF THIS CLASS HELPED YOU TO LEARN THINK CRITICALLY?

I think this class was very informative. Most programming classes consist of learning various ways of building applications, while this one was concept as well as programming oriented. I greatly benefited from the lectures, as I now i have a better understanding of how the web works in general.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The programming assignments by far were the most beneficial. The lectures helped distill much of the knowledge communicated in requirements specifications into a concise and straightforward format.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT DID YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE CLASS AND YOUR INSTRUCTOR?

Nelson's a really good teacher. His lectures are informative, he answers questions fully, and makes sure we understand the topics being covered. Not to mention he's a funny guy, he's not much older than the rest of us, and he's a geek like the rest of us...and he's not some old gieser telling us war stories about the one computer that the university had (referring to Overstreet talking about VT).
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The class was conducted in a relaxed environment; it was focused more on collaborative rather than competitive learning. I leanred not only from the lectures, but also on the class presentations on other groups' implementation methods.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The instructor exposed me to several real-world development scenarios, notably the reading, comprehension and implementation of requirements from RFCs into actual conforming code.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a fun class to be in. VERY hard and challenging and required ALOT of time, but I liked the environment and the teacher
-------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT CHANGES IF ANY, COULD BE MADE TO THE CLASS THAT WOULD HAVE HELPED YOU TO LEARN MORE? WHAT COULD THE INSTRUCTOR HAVE DONE TO MAKE THE COURSE AN EVEN BETTER LEARNING EXPERIENCE?

None, it's a great class
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This class involved group projects; and as in other group-oriented classes, there was friction between group members. I would have appreciated it if some form of group evaluation were included in the class policy, and if forthcoming problems between group members had ben anticipated, since any group is rarely perfectly cohesive, and it is rather unfair for all group members to receive identical grades when the input was not equal. Some method of better group management policy is required here, since the entire coursework is based on assignments.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Provide testing tools early in the development process to verify that developed code is correctly implementing assignment functionalities.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The only thing I have a problem with, is the fact my partner abbandoned me, leaving me to do ALL of the already tough work.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT FACTORS ABOUT YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE HELPED YOU LEARN THE MOST? WHAT DID YOU DO TO FACILITATE YOUR LEARNING?

pulled all-nighters in the OR lab....
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Having a code revision system helped my partner and me develop code independently without getting in each other's way.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT COULD YOU HAVE DONE TO MAKE THE COURSE AN EVEN BETTER LEARNING EXPERIENCE?

Spent more time on the assignments, went over the specs more thoroughly to better understand the assignments
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I could have studied the RFCs more diligently early on to ensure that I was continually aware of protocol requirements throughout the development process.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
not much
