CS312-F10: Project 1: Setting Up a Blog

Assigned: Tuesday, Sept 7, 2010
Due: Tuesday, Sept 14, 2010 before midnight

The goal of this assignment is to set up your own blog. You may blog about what you're working on in your classes, your favorite sports teams, whatever you wish. Just remember that anyone can view your blog.

If you already have a blog, you may submit it for this assignment as long as it satisfies all of the requirements listed (including the posting frequency requirement).

Getting Started

Use Tumblr, Blogger, or WordPress to host your blog. Follow the instructions at the appropriate website for setup.

Customization Requirements

Feel free to customize your blog by changing templates, rearranging elements, adding content, etc. But, there are two customizations that you are required to make:

1. Add a picture (can be your picture or some other picture) to the sidebar.
2. Add a set of links to some of your favorite webpages to the sidebar.

Blog Entry Requirements

• You are required to make at least two blog entries between now and before the deadline for this project.
• You are required to make at least one blog entry each week during the semester. Your grade for this project will be adjusted at the end of the semester based on this requirement.

Submission

Go to the Project 1 Submission page, and enter your name and the URL of your blog.

• Make sure that the URL works before you submit it.
• Pressing the submit button will add a link to your blog to the Student Blog page along with a timestamp of your submission.
• Only submit your URL once!
