Web Proxy Settings

Do this only on your own personal machine. Do not change proxy settings on lab machines!

Internet Explorer 6.x or Higher

  1. Click on Tools>Internet Options...

  2. Select the Connections tab and click on LAN Settings...

  3. To turn the proxy server on, check the Use a proxy server for your LAN box.


    Type in the hostname where your HTTPServer is running (something like cash, tango, ra, etc.) and the port where you have your HTTPServer listening.

  4. Click on OK to finish.

  5. Important! - To turn off the proxy server, go back to the LAN Setttings box and make sure that all boxes are unchecked. Until you do this, you will not be able to access any web pages.

Firefox

  1. Click on Tools>Options....

  2. Select the General tab.

  3. Select Connection Settings.

  4. Select Manual proxy configuration radio button.


    Type in the hostname where your HTTPServer is running (something like cash, tango, ra, etc.) and the port where you have your HTTPServer listening.

  5. Click on OK to finish.

  6. Important! - To turn off the proxy server, go back to the Connection Setttings box and make sure that the Direct connection to the Internet button is selected. Until you do this, you will not be able to access any web pages.
