Packages for Red Hat Linux 7.3 (Valhalla)

These packages are completely unsupported by Red Hat. In fact, they are mostly unsupported by me. If you need I can usually be found as Jag in #redhat on the Open Projects IRC Network. Yes, I do take requests. That's not a promise to make any package requested, but I'll consider it.

Applications

• JPilot 0.99.2-1jag (SRPM): Palm Pilot desktop syncing software, this is the latest version which includes the Keyring plugin. If you have pilot-link version 0.10+ rebuild the SRPM and you'll have USB hotsyncing support.
• Kismet 2.2.2-1jag: And excellent 802.11b scanning application. I have tested it with a Cisco Aironet 352 and it works great. There is no SRPM because it wants access to the ethereal build directory and I saw no clean way to do that without bundling the ethereal source. Currently I just do an rpm -bc ethereal.spec and point kismet at it's build dir. Dirty but I don't want to mirror the ethereal setup. Perhaps if I ever depart from the RH ethereal release I will bundle them.
• Scribus 0.6-2jag (SRPM): Desktop Publishing application. I havn't messed with it much as this was added by request.
• WebLint 1.020-8 (SRPM): Nice if somewhat outdated web page error checker.

Desktop

• Aronnax Acqua 0.153-1jag (SRPM): Aronnax's Aqua theme and IceWM Style for KDE 3. I'm going to stick with Liquid/Glow/and my own color theme but for those with an Aqua bent, this + liquid is probably as good as it's getting.
• Crystal Icons Beta 3.1-1jag (SRPM): Conectiva Crystal Icon theme for KDE 3.0
• Liquid 0.9.4-1: Mosfet's High Performance Liquid Style for KDE 3.0

Drivers

• 3Com 3c990 driver disks for Athlon, i686, i586, and i386. Just grab the image file and write it to a floppy using rawrite or dd if=3c990-<architecture>.img of=/dev/fd0
  

Games

• Circus Linux 1.0.3-2jag (SRPM): Based on the classic CircusAtari. Breakout like gameplay.
• Enigma 0.40a-1jag (SRPM): A puzzle game clone of Atari game Oxyd.
• GnoMAME 1.00b3-1jag (SRPM): Gnome front end for MAME. Not as good as GRusitbus
• NPRQuake-SDL 1.0-6jag (SRPM): Non-PhotoRealistic Quake, This is painfully cool and it's good for a traditionally rendered game of Quake as well. There are pics of the alternate render modes up on the screen shots page. Grab the Demo RPM or the game data off your Quake I CD. Directions on extracting the data files from the CD are here. Be sure to look at /usr/share/doc/NPRQuake-SDL-1.0/README for details on switching to the alternative renders. Please note that the id1 directory is world writable to allow saving configuration and games.
• QStat 24e-1jag (SRPM): Online game server query tool. Supports Quake and a lot more.
• Quake II 0.12-1jag (SRPM): Quake 2 with the icculus patches. Grab the Demo RPM or copy the game data from Install/Data/baseq2/ on your Quake 2 CD to /usr/games/quake2/baseq2/.
• Ultimate GTK Othello 1667-1jag (SRPM): Port of a popular Othello game from OS X. Aqua friendly graphics so if uou're into the Aqua themes this should go along nicely.

The Misc part

• Linux on the Panasonic ToughBook CF-72: My Guide to getting the most out of this excellent laptop when running Linux.
• gtf.c: A program for generating modelines using the Generalized Timing Formula. It's been my experience that these modelines are much better than the XFree86 Modeline Generator.
