Jones (1985) stressed the importance of how children 
use language to solve problems. 
Children were able to solve nonverbal problems better 
when their language skills improved. 
Their performance improved because they were able to 
decribe the problem and use their knowledge of the problem, 
both skills  that they had learned through language.  
This suggests that we study how  our ability to solve nonverbal problems 
is improved when we first describe  them using  words.
