Services we provide

Unix Shell Access
Several high performance Solaris machines are available for research and development. Many popular software packages and utilities are available for use for faculty and students.

Virtual Computing Lab
The Virtual Computing Lab is a new service available to CS students which allows you to connect via Remote Desktop Connection to a machine with all our Windows Lab software.

E-Mail Services
We provide Exchange, SMTP, and IMAP services for all faculty, staff, and students. Web-based mail is provided via Outlook Web Access.

Compilers
All of our systems are equipped with the latest and historical compilers from GNU, Sun, and Microsoft. This enables faculty and students to test their software over a broad range of real-world environments.

High Performance Computing Cluster
We offer a 16 node dual processor quad core and a 64 node dual processor single core AMD Opteron Linux cluster for high performance computing to all Computer Science faculty and students. Combined, the two clusters offer over 500 GigaFlops of computing power.

Wireless Network Access
Setup tutorials for Windows XP SP2/SP3, Windows Vista/Windows 7, and Mac OS X.
High speed wireless connectivity is available throughout the E&CS and Spong Hall buildings and in Research Park I Suite 401. Multiple access points allow seamless roaming across the entire floor at speeds up to 108mbps.

ELMS
Microsoft offers low-cost copies of software used in the department to Computer Science students through their ELMS partnership.

Computing Labs
We maintain four computing labs. These consist of the 47 machine Teaching Lab located in Spong Hall 112 used for class instruction, the 39 machine Problem Solving Lab located in 103 Spong Hall for general CS student use, the 29 machine Open Research Lab located in 3104 Engineering & Computational Sciences used for class instruction and general CS student computing, and the 49 machine CS101 Lab located in Spong Hall 113 used for CS101 class instruction.
