CS 476/576 Systems Programming

Lecture 3 hours; 3 credits.
Prerequisites: CS 471.
Laboratory work required.
This course is to help students fully understand and utilize the internal workings and capabilities provided by modern computing environment as typified by a network of workstations running UNIX and X window and communicating with TCP/IP protocols. Topics includes: Shell Programming, Xlib and Motif Widgets, Network Programming using Berkeley Sockets and TCP/IP UNIX Systems Programming (I/O, Processes and Signals). (offered spring)
