This course will introduce some of the technical foundations for
multimedia. Students will explore the applications of
multimedia and techniques in some areas such as group collaboration
and network-based education.
Topics covered include: Architectures and Issues for Distributed Multimedia
Systems, Digital Audio Representation and Processing, Digital Video and Image
Compression, Operating System Support for Continuous Media Applications,
Multimedia Devices, Presentation Services and the User Interface.
