PURPOSE
This course will introduce some of the basic concepts of data communications. This includes the physical layer, the data link layer, the network layer and the transport layers. In addition, it will cover the current technologies such as ATM, Frame Relays and ISDN.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
Graduate or senior undergraduate.
LAB FACILITIES
Use Sun Workstations in the Computer Science Department.

Data and Computer Communications, William Stallings, Fourth Edition, Macmillan Publishing, 1994. The text will be supplemented with some additional material wherever appropriate.
