Graduate students who fail to meet academic requirements will be indefinitely suspended from graduate study at the University. Reinstatement may be granted upon formal approval after meeting requirements as stated in the University Catalog.
The administration of probation, suspension and reinstatement of graduate students is managed by Sandra Waters and Dr. Ronald Johnson.
It is the responsibility of the Graduate Dean/Associate Vice President for Research to:
- Receive written requests of appeal
- Make recommendations on appeals submitted by non-degree graduate students
It is the responsibility of the Graduate Appeals Committee to:
- Receive all letters of appeal from the Assistant Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies
- Hear all suspension appeals
- Approve course work recommended by the GPD as prerequisite to reinstatement
- Receive student letters requesting final review based on prerequisite courses prior to reinstatement
- Review student records to determine if conditions of reinstatement have been fulfilled
It is the responsibility of the GPD to:
- Make recommendations on appeals of students seeking admission or reinstatement to a graduate degree program
- Advise students on semester hours and courses in which they may enroll during the year prior to reinstatement
