1. This is a jack-fruit. So this really isn't a recipe but directions on how to eat one. It's HEAVY. Rumor has it Jack could pick it up between his thumb and forefinger. I know what you're thinking: wasn't Jack the one who climbed the bean stalk and found the giant but was regular size? Yes. But he quickly learned how the giant got so big-this crazy fruit. So he ate it and became a giant. What's more curious is how a giant with great mass can live in the clouds. Wouldn't he fall out? It's a simple misunderstanding of density, you see...oh, sorry. That's a story for another time. |

2. I carried this fruit one half kilometer through heavy sand like this. |
3. Get out your knife and cut it into quarter circles like so. The fruit secrets a very sticky sap so you must... |
4. Oil up your hands. You'll also eat it this way. |
5. The seeds are surrounded by sweet flesh (though the review is mixed among PCVs) held together by very sticky ligaments. |
6. Now that you've cut it up and oiled your hands dig in. (Sorry, I didn't realize I looked so sad in this picture-I really do like the fruit.) |
