1. If you're a Peace Corps volunteer in the village you might notice something's missing: sweets. So what to do if you don't have a lot of time to cook sweets? Make a bucket-o-chocolate. It's your typical pudding-like recipe. But first you need a 10-liter bucket...

2. And lots of cocoa powder. About 60 tbsps worth. Then about 20 tbsps of butter or vegetable fat. 10 cups of sugar, 30 cups of milk, and 2 1/4 tsps salt. Heat these ingredients until boiling then add 30 tbsps corn flour (readily available here), 5 more cups milk, and 5 tsps vanilla. Mix well and wait until it cools.

3. Now you've got a nice sweet to enjoy while you read, or do other work, that will last about a week. Also, good to share with friends.

4. Ok, raise your hand if you believed me. Ah, you're too trusting. While the Hershey factory may scoff at 10 liters of chocolate, I think we can agree it's too much for one person.
5. Here's the real recipe. Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsps cocoa powder, 2 tsps baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tbsps oil, and 1 tsp vanilla. You can mix the ingredients according to your usual cake mix routine but the end result should look like the picture to the right. And the beauty of this is you don't have to grease the pan so you can mix it directly in your baking pan and save washing more dishes-an important factor if you're without a washing machine.
6. Next boil the following mixture: 1 1/2 cups water, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup cocoa.

7. Pour this mixture on top of the first in the baking pan.

8. Bake until the top becomes cake-like.

9. It will be tough on the outside...
10. But in the middle is warm syrup or, if you let it cool, a rich pudding. Family style eating a plus.
