Getting Ready for Class
Once you have decided that this class is right for you (for intended audience
click here), you will need to do the following things:
- Register for the course. For more information on ODU registration click
HERE.
or check out the TELETECHNET guide here.
- Buy the textbook (at any TELETECHNET site - or see information in the
syllabus).
- Get a ODUCS (Department of Computer Science) account.
If you are a student registered for a CS course, and have never had a ODUCS account on the
CS Dept system, you can get your
account via
the web If you have had an account in the recent past, it should be regenerated for
you in any semester when you are
registered for a CS course. Otherwise, you will need to contact your instructor or from
the CS systems staff to get your account.
(NOTE: registered for CS333 to get an account to
access the Learning Space site. IT typically takes 24 to 48 hours after the
time you register for the course with the University before you can sign up
for an account. It then takes another 24 hours to activate your learning
space account. If you do not have access after that time, contact your instructor.
You need two accounts to use this course - a UNIX account and a
LOTUS account.
Since new account are created using the same userID and password, many
students are unaware that these is a difference.
However students who have existing UNIX accounts may find that the
password for the LOTUS account is different.
Your userId for the course is the same as your UNIX mail name (see the
Class Roster page).
The default password is the first two letters of your last name
followed by your student ID (probably your social security number).
- Come the orientation section (see schedule) at your
favorite TELETECHNET site.
