CS361: Midterm Exam
The midterm exam will run from March 04-06. You may begin work on it
anytime in that three day period, but must complete work within 24
hours of when you start or by 11:59:59pm on the 6th, whichever comes
first.
The testing interface itself will not lock you out if you go over
your 24 hour allotted time. However, during grading I will roll back
your answers to those submitted within the 24 hour period. (Note: the
exam system keeps track of all answers you submit and the time
at which you submit them, not just when you click the final "Submit"
button for the entire test, but each time you answer a question and
then move on to another question. Therefore I can see not only your
final answers, but all earlier versions of those answers as well.)
If technical difficulties arise that make it impossible for you to
complete the exam within the allotted time, you should go ahead and
complete it as quickly as possible, then send e-mail to
cs361z@cs.odu.edu detailing the nature of the problem, and I will take
that under advisement in deciding whether to accept you late answers.
During the exam
- During the time period when the exam is running, I will give priority to answering email asking for clarification about the exam.
- Questions about other assignments, grades, etc., may simply go unanswered during this time period.
After the exam
- Return to the exam page on March 7 or after to see your answers,
my answers, and your grade.
- Initially, many points worth of questions will be marked as ungraded and will not yet be counted in your reported score.
- The quiz program may assign a grade to fill-in-the-blank questions, but that grade is preliminary and I will be reviewing all those answers. Yes, I know there is more than one possible correct answer to some of these questions.
- If the header at the top of the exam indicates that some questions are still ungraded, then don't panic over your total score.
- If the header at the top of the exam indicates that some questions are still ungraded, then don't send me email complaining about how some of the questions were graded. Odds are, they haven't been graded yet.
- After the exams are graded, I will also compute a preliminary overall grade for your performance in the first half of the semester. This will be part of the grade report you get by clicking on the "Grades" button on the course home page.
- Expect this information to appear in the grade reports sometime Sunday or early Monday.
- If it hasn't appeared yet, I'm still working on it. Don't send me emails before Monday asking where it is and when it will appear. Answering those just delays my getting that information ready.
- If you think some of the exam questions were graded incorrectly, or your grade computed incorrectly, by all means send me email. Don't be surprised, however, if I don't do anything about it until after I have prepared thegrade reports for the entire class, as getting that information together will be my top priority.
