Problem
The problem is that current home-based reminder systems do not accurately comply with changes in the occupant's time and location.
Due to this problem, one may experience the following:
- Loss of time
- Missed events/appointments
- Higher stress
- Higher cost
- Unsafe conditions
- Loss of items
Solution
Our proposed solution is to develop a home based communication system to send messages to
a portable device and allows for input in a PDA anywhere.
The PRS will...
- Provide reminders based on location
- Provide reminders based on current time
- Support X10 sensors
- Allow remote access
- Support multiple users
- Allow reminder acknowledgement
- Be financially feasible
The PRS will not...
- Ensure the portable device is used
- Ensure alert acknowledgement

- Define a communication protocol
- Integrate with home environment via:
- Sensitized trigger alerts
- Preprogrammed alerts
- Develop a GUI for client/server
- Utilize location sensing devices
