In-Class Work 8 (ICW8)

See http://www.cs.odu.edu/~mweigle/CS725-S17/Guidelines for general information on ICW assignments.

Special for ICW8: Work in your project groups.

Think about your current plans for your project and consider the different ways to facet into multiple views:

  • juxtapose and coordinate views
    • share encoding, share subset data
    • share encoding, share no data
    • different encoding, share all data
    • different encoding, share subset data
  • partition into views
  • superimpose layers

Discuss how you plan to facet into multiple views to allow the user to better understand complex data.

Note that this type of design decision justification and explanation is part of what I expect to see in your final paper.

During the last 10 minutes of class time, be prepared to talk about what you have discussed. If you are working alone, feel free to discuss options and ideas with other groups.

One member of your project group must submit your write-up in Blackboard (under 'Other Submissions') before our next class meeting on April 5.
