1 All Factors Considered

An analysis of the current process versus the improved process with a software solution in place is needed. Student teams will be required to research the problem domain thoroughly, to include:

1. A description of the problem
2. Identification of the problem characteristics
3. Preparation of a “problem statement”

All through Internet research and mentor interviews.

  Can we afforadably create the solution?

• Technology

  Does the technology exist to support development needs?

• Manpower

  Do we have the people need with the right skill sets?

• Resources

  • Is the Proposed Solution Useful to Society – marketable?
  • Is this solution usable by more than one customer?
  • If so, we must make it easily modifiable.
  • Will our customers be able to buy the solution for a reasonable amount of money?
  • Can we build it for a reasonable amount of money?
  • Does the supporting technology exist?
  • Does our team have the skillsets necessary to build the solution?
