Term Project
1. Description: The term project is a significant
programming project undertaken to demonstrate proficiency in some aspect of Windows NT
systems programming. This project typically involves an exploration of one or more topics
discussed in class, typically in more depth than discussed in class and a use of such
knowledge in a significant programming project.
2. Suitability of Projects: topics for term projects
are typically chosen by the students themselves. However, all topics must relate to some
aspect of Windows NT systems programming and must be approved by Dr. Wild.
3. Project Management: Each project must maintain a
project web site which includes at least the following items:
- Description of the Term Project
- Weekly Progress Reports (even if they only say no progress this week.) Part of your
grade for the project will be determined by the weekly progress reports.
- Source Code for significant stages of the project or experiments done to gain a
better understanding of some topic.
- Term paper at the end of project describing it.
- Presentation slides (if needed) for class presentation.
4. Teams: It is possible to work on this project in teams.
However, all teams must be approved by Dr. Wild.
5. Dates: Project reports due by 6pm each Sunday.
- March 21: Web Site available including preliminary project description
- April 7: Finalization of project topic (approved by e-mail from Dr. Wild)
- April 20: Selected Presentations of Projects
- April 27: project due.
6. Deliverables:
- Paper describing project which shoudl include the following information:
- Description of project
- Significant problems to be solved in this project
- technical approach to solving these problems
- discussion of lessons learned
- future work to take this project forward
- Instructions on how to use the project system.
- Source Code and Makefile to compile this project
