  About the Book

Why this Book? This is the first semester I have used the Deitel & Deitel book and so far I am impressed with its breadth of coverage and coverage of the ANSI/ISO draft and the standard template library. IT also covers material taught in both CS150 and CS250 eliminating the need for two books.

Why the CD ROM? I choose the version with interactive CD because I believe it will enhance your learning of the material. While the CD does not replace a live lecture, it does go beyond a traditional textbook. It is not essential that you get the CD version and its use depends on your tastes and study styles.

Where is the Source Code for the Book? I have downloaded the source code for the book and placed in on the web site (click here).

What's important in the Book? Well that depends on your background. I have mapped out the sections in the book using the following classification:

During the first two weeks of the course, you will be assigned a personal study guide, assignment list and reading pages. In the meantime, you can examine the general-purpose ones by clicking below
