This is a general outline: each student will receive a personal study guide by the second week of classes chosen from the following study guide outlines.

Preliminaries

C++ Basics
(6 weeks)
Introduce/Review BASIC C++ constructs
(Quick review (1 week) for those who know C++ or C
4 weeks  - for those who know another langauge)
Object Features
(6 weeks)
Object Oriented Programming (8 weeks)
Object Oriented Design
Problem Solving

(Introduced as needed throughout the above modules)

  • Case Studies/Projects (introduced throughout the course)
  • DCS Computing Environment (Using UNIX)
Term Project
  • Each student will be given a term programming project.
  • This project will be given after the student after mid-term exams
  • This scope of this project will be similar to those given in the past in CS250. Some recent examples are given below:
    • Video Store Rental
    • Fast Food Store Simulation
