Risks

The risks involved with the DORS project are...

Risk Type
Risk
Mitigation
1. Cost If the expected budget for the product is exceeded, then our product will not succeed. Use as many off the shelf products as possible and keep new development minimal. We have been carefully planning the total cost of our product and given room for expansion and accidents.
2. Funding If we are unable to find funding for our project, then we will not be able to proceed to future development to our project. We have been researching different funding agencies that are willing to fund our project and willing to accept a nice return quickly. We are also researching the possibility of a parent company to fund our project.
3. Business If we are unable to open a business relationship with a restaurant, then our product will fail. We have been carefully researching a potential customer base through interviews, and surveys to find out what a restaurant owner would want out of our product.
4. Social There may be a lack of interest from restaurant customers to use the product. Some guests may not want to take the time to use the computer before leaving the house to place an order... or may simply not know that DORS exists. We will encourage restaurants advertise our product and to offer incentives for using the online system. Restaurants already offer many coupons, it would be easy to integrate DORS in to the coupon offer. We have also been surveying the restaurant customer base to find out what is expected of our product on the social level.
5. Scheduling/Marketing The time to market DORS and get restaurants interested may take longer than expected. Before our product becomes commercially available we will use a restaurant as a test site and give them free service and maintenance. We can show how valuable and profitable DORS is to this restaurant, it will be easy to expand our client base very quickly. Just like any business, restaurants want a profit. If we can increase the accuracy of orders, this will decrease lost revenue, which equals more profit.
6. Social/Technical The ease of use with the interface for DORS. Will users like it and want to use it? There will be easy to read instructions for usage, confirmation screens, multilanguage support, and user-friendly interfaces. We also conduct surveys with the general public on what is considered "user-friendly".
